There Is No Time Like November

Do you have a story you want to tell but you have no idea where to begin? NaNoWriMo this November is the perfect time to get that story out of your imagination and onto paper! And I want to help you be successful in not only finally starting your story, but writing 50,000 words of it in just 30 days.

Have coffee with me every Monday morning in October at 10am and where I will share a crash course on how I prepare for NaNoWriMo. These 4 brief prep sessions will tackle…
Week 1: Why – Theme & Premise
Week 2: Who, When, & Where – Character, Backstory, & Location
Week 3: What – Plot
Week 4: How – Pull It All Together

The world needs your story, and there is no time like November to write it!

I have prepared for National Novel Writing Month and succeeded in writing at least 50,000 words just in the month of November every year I have participated since 2013. The first draft of all three of my published novels – The Keeper, The Varken, and Polarity – were written during NaNoWriMo!

Prep Sessions will be livestreamed on my Facebook page and then uploaded to Instagram.

A Hot Minute

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve updated on my writing…probably because it’s been a hot minute since I’d really had time to write for myself!

Over the past few months, I have been busy with my new full-time job at Solace Theatre, fundraising and producing our second musical. I’m still learning how to find balance in my life, and how to stew up the motivation to write.

I have queried a lot of agents for Polarity, and that has been a big hang up for me with writing. I have had a difficult moving on from Polarity, and I’m ready for it to be out there, out of my hands. That story was written for such a specific chapter in my own life, and I’m ready to close that chapter.

Ready to let go.

So, in order to free myself to use my non-working-time to write and tell stories, rather than feeling the burden to keep querying. I am very proud of Polaris, but I know the next thing I write will be that much better, so I’m ready to move forward.

I won’t be taking a very long time – or spending a lot of money – to get it out, ideally before our next big production in June. I’m currently on my eighth and final pass at the manuscript, and I’m ready to finally share it with you all.

I’ll check back in when I have an update!

xoxo Erin

Bracing for NaNoWriMo

To say I’m not ready for NaNoWriMo would be an understatement. My life has been taken over by our new theatre company since June and I’ve barely had time to think about writing much less write. But I have won NaNoWriMo the past four years and this would be the fifth, so I’m gonna push for it.

50,000 words in one month is 1,667 words a day. When I’m in the groove, I can knock that out in less than two hours. On a really good day, an hour. I can find that time. I must just have to give up a bit of my sanity to do so, but I can find that time.Read More »
